Banks will be obliged to pay Microsoft to keep running its ATMs with Windows XP
As we know Microsoft do all its efforts to "Kill Windows XP" before stopping its support for the system on April 8th. But the problem is many banks still use Windows XP on its ATMs.
So these banks will be obliged to pay Microsoft to keep running XP especially that 95% of the ATMs in the world still run this OS and just One-thirs of ATMs upgrade to windows 7.
I really don't know why Microsoft want to stop supporting XP but this will cost Banks too much: according to Reuters "The cost of extending support and upgrading to a new platform for each of Britain's main banks would be in the region of 50 to 60 million pounds ($100 million)".
Banks still have less than a month to find a solution maybe Microsoft will accept to keep supporting Windows XP or maybe you will find yourself obliged to pay fees to your bank.
